Greensburg Community High School

The Greensburg football team started their 2023 season facing a quick 26-0 deficit at halftime. The Golden Bears scored on four of their first five possessions to take a big lead in the locker room. The Pirates responded in the second half, scoring on their first two drives out of the locker room. Junior Kaden Acton scored a 47-yard touchdown run early in the third quarter. On the first play of the fourth quarter, Acton found the end zone again on 4th and 1 from the 1-yard-line. Sophomore quarterback Bryson Abplanlalp completed 14 of 28 passes for 119 yards with two interceptions. Shelbyville quarterback Matt Chappelow completed 13-20 passes for 283 yards and five touchdown passes. The Pirates (0-1) are back in action on Friday night at home against Greenfield-Central. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
