Smith scores twice in girls soccer win over South Ripley

Junior Genevieve Smith continued her hot start to the 2023 season with two goals on Monday night to lead the Greensburg girls soccer team to a 3-1 win over visiting South Ripley. Smith scored just a minute into the match on an assist by freshman Kadence Rich. Smith found the net a second time in the first half with an assist from junior Madisyn Morlan taking the Pirates into the half up 2-1. The second half would see the same defensive stand by the Pirates backline led by senior captain Malana Kramer. Rich found the net for the final goal of the night on an assist from Smith. Sophomore keeper Madeline Shrader stopped 11 of the 12 Raider shots she faced. Smith led the team with six shots on goal. The Pirates are now 3-2 for the season. The next match is Thursday on the road at Madison at 6 p.m.
