Girls soccer falls to Batesville Monday night

The Greensburg girls soccer team fell to Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference foe Batesville 8-1 on Monday night. The Pirates played a scoreless first 15 minutes with a strong defensive stand led by senior captain Malana Kramer. Keeper Madeline Shrader saw five shots on goal before allowing the first goal of the night to the Bulldogs. Five minutes later, Kadence Rich evened the score on an assist from Genevieve Smith. It would not take long for the Bulldogs to score again before the half, sending the game to the break with the Pirates trailing 2-1. The second half would be controlled by Batesville. They would take 18 shots on goal, with six finding the net. Goalkeeper Madeline Shrader saw 21 shots on goal allowing five. The Pirates made a change at keeper part of the way through the second half. Emma Hostetler would see 10 shots on goal, allowing three goals. This Pirates are now 3-4 (0-1 EIAC). Their next match is against East Central on Tuesday, Sept. 12. Game time is 6 p.m.
