The Greensburg girls soccer team faced a defensive battle with Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference opponent Franklin County Thursday night, falling 2-0 on the road to the Wildcats. The game featured just 17 shots on goal. The first half was played with no score until nine minutes remained. Franklin County settled a well-placed free kick into the middle of the Pirate goal that met a Wildcat header to bounce in. The Wildcats took a 1-0 lead into half. The Wildcats found the net again ten minutes into the second half to finish the night's scoring. Keeper Madeline Shrader saw nine shots on goal allowing two to reach the scoreboard. With a strong effort from the defensive line, Genevieve Smith took six shots, while Madisyn Morlan and Kadence Rich took one each. The Pirates are now 4-7 (1-3 EIAC). The Pirates are back in action on Saturday at noon in a conference doubleheader with Lawrenceburg. The boys game kicks off at 10 a.m.
