Pirates cross country finishes eighth and tenth at Ted Fox Invitiational in Bedford

The Greensburg boys and girls cross country teams competed in the Ted Fox Memorial Invitational for the first time ever over the weekend, with the boys finishing eighth out of 21 teams and the girls finishing tenth out of 20 teams. Floyd Central’s Will Conway led the Highlanders to the team victory winning the boys’ varsity race in 16:13.53. Senior TJ Gorman paced the Pirates taking fifth place out of 142 runners in a time of 16:32.57. Cameron Schwartz ran 18:20.13 for 43rd place. Freshman Quinton Walker continued his steady improvement lowering his personal best to 18:31.86 for 45th overall. Zack Blodgett had his fastest race of 2023 as he recorded a time of 18:45.61 in 48th. Dante Hess was Greensburg’s fifth finisher. Hess ran 19:13.91 for 62nd place. Center Grove won the the girls race. Freshman Alaina Bedel had her fastest time ever for 5000m. Bedel’s 20:36.64 earned her ninth overall and was the ninth fastest time ever at GCHS. Tori Gauck had her best race of the season, with a 22:29.56 in 37th place. Ally Foster used a strong last kilometer to finish in 23:25.26 for 53rd place. Brooke Welsh lowered her best time ever to 25:20.87 and was 74th. Allison Duncan ran 26:10.09 for 77th.
