Girls soccer falls to Triton Central

The Greensburg girls soccer team traveled to Triton Central to face the Tigers Saturday morning, falling 5-2 in a physical matchup. The highlight for the Pirates came with just over 5 minutes in the first half. With the Pirates down 2-0, Junior Genevieve Smith found the net on an assist from Sophomore Maddie Haviland. After the ensuing kickoff, the Pirates immediately took possession and Smith found Haviland for a header and a quick second goal, tying the game at 2-2. Triton Central found the net a third time before the half and carried that momentum to a 5-2 win. The Pirates end the regular season 4-11 (1-6 EIAC). Sectional play begins Thursday against Madison at 7 p.m. Batesville will host the sectional matchup.
