Pirates' strong defense leads to big win at Seymour

The Greensburg girls basketball team held Seymour to 35% shooting while the Pirates hit half of their three-point attempts in a 57-40 road win Saturday afternoon. The Pirates started quickly again, running out to a 31-18 lead at hafltime. The Pirates were led by Mylie Wilkison, who scored 20 points on a strong shooting effort, making four of her six three-point attempts. Leah West secured a double-double, scoring 16 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Aly Powers contributed 12 points for the Pirates. Mary Harmon's six points and Claire Larrison's three points rounded out the scoring for the Pirates. Seymour's Kendall Sterling led the Owls with 11 points. The Pirates (5-2, 1-0 EIAC) are back in action Thursday night on the road at South Decatur. The JV teams will only play one half with the varisty game to follow. The JV half begins at 6 p.m.
