Swimming splits with Batesville

The Greensburg boys swimming team defeated Batesville 158-143 Tuesday night. The girls team was defeated 93-93 by the Bulldogs. For the boys, the 200m medley relay team of JR Fresnemeier, Tristen Hostetler, Tyler Williams, and Jake Taylor were first place winners. Joe Hawkins set a PR in the 200m freestyle to earn first-place honors. Jake Hawkins won the 200m individual medley. Christopher Mains set personal bests in the 100m butterfly and 100m breaststroke. Mains' butterfly time was the third-fastest in GCHS history. His breaststroke time was the sixth-fastest in GCHS history. Williams won the 100m freestyle. Mains, Taylor, and Joe and Jake Hawkins won the 200m freestyle relay. Taylor won the 100m backstroke. Main, Williams, Hostetler, and Jake Hawkins also won the 400m freestyle relay. On the girls side, freshman Elizabeth Walder won the 200m freestyle in a personal best time. Lilly Corya set a personal best in the 100m freestyle in a winning effort. Corya also earned a first-place finish in the 100m breaststroke. Brenley Jameson won first-place in the 500m freestyle. Alaina Hostetler won the 100m backstroke. The Pirates are back in the pool Monday against Milan at 5:30 p.m.
