Boys basketball earns third-place in 16-team Richmond tournament

The Greensburg boys basketball team won three of their four games in the two-day Bob Wettig Memorial Tournament at Richmond. The Pirates earned a third-place finish in the 16-team tournament. The Pirates won both games Thursday, defeating Scecina in overtime 54-52. In Thursday's nightcap, the Pirates took down Class 4A opponent Bloomington South, beating the Panthers 59-50. In Friday's morning action, the Pirates fell to host and undefeated Richmond 48-45. The Red Devils won the tournament Friday night, defeating Heritage Christian to take home the trophy. In the third-place game Friday night, the Pirates beat Indianapolis Tindley 51-48. The Pirates (7-3, 1-0 EIAC) are off until Friday, Jan. 5. They travel to the Spartan Bowl to face Connersville in a JV/Varsity doubleheader that tips at 6 p.m.
