Girls basketball holds off late New Palestine rally for 10-point road win

The Class 3A No. 7 Greensburg girls basketball team found themselves in an 18-8 hole at the end of the first quarter at Class 4A New Palestine Tuesday night. However, the Pirates outscored the Dragons by 14 in the second quarter to take a four-point lead to the half. The Pirates stretched their lead to as many as nine in the third before a late rally by New Palestine tied the game at 35 with three minutes left. Greensburg ended the game on a 10-point run to earn a 45-35 win. Freshman Claire Larrison led the way for the Pirates with 17 points. Leah West added 10 points and nine rebounds. The Pirates held New Palestine to 30% shooting from the floor in the game. Greensburg (17-4, 6-0 EIAC) close out the regular season Thursday night when they host EIAC foe Lawrenceburg. A JV/Varsity doubleheader starts at 6 p.m.
