Boys swim excels in final sectional tune-up

The Greensburg boys swim team took multiple first-place finishes in Wednesday's meet with Edgewood and Indian Creek. The Pirates defeated Indian Creek 89-40 and Edgewood 87-57 at Indian Creek High School. In the 200 medley relay, Christopher Mains, Jake Hawkins, Tyler Williams, and Joe Hawkins took home first place. Tristian Hostetler earned a win in the 200 freestyle. Mains and Williams took home first and second-place finishes in the 50 freestyle. Williams set a new personal best. Jake Hawkins was a winner in the 100 butterfly. Williams and Hostetler finished first and second in the 100 freestyle. Boys swimmers set new personal bests. Mains and Joe Hawkins were 1-2 finishers in the 500 freestyle. Jake Hawkins, Williams, Jake Taylor, and Hostetler were winners in the 200 freestyle relay. The 400 freestyle relay was won by Mains, Joe Hawkins. JR Fresnsemeier, and Hostetler. This was the final regular season meet for the Pirates. Sectional 17 preliminaries begin Thursday, Feb. 15 at Columbus North High School. The sectional finals take place on Saturday, Feb. 19.
