Jackson wins Hoosier State Relays with new meet record throw

Greensburg senior Emarie Jackson threw 49-04 on her third shot put throw of the day at Saturday's Hoosier Indoor Relays at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, setting a new small school meet record on her way to a first-place finish. Jackson finished more than four feet ahead of Whitko's Gwen Howard, who finished second. Elsewhere for the Pirates in the meet, Livvy Grimes finished seventh in the shot put, throwing 36-04.75. The boys distance medley team of TJ Gorman, Owen Meadows, Jake Hawkins, and Joe Hawkins finished eighth in a time of 10:57.60. The Pirates begin their outdoor season on Thursday, April 4 at Batesville. The dual meet begins at 5 p.m.
