Adams fans 14 Madison Cubs in softball's 6-0 win

Greensburg freshman pitcher Harper Adams extended her season-opening scoreless inning streak to 14 Wednesday night in Pirate softball's 6-0 road win over Madison. Adams allowed just one hit, which came on the second to last batter of the game. Only two Cubs reached base, both in the final frame. Adams struck out 14 in the game, including the game's final batter with two runners on base. Through two games, Adams has given up four hits and struck out 27 batters. At the plate, junior Emma McQueen and senior Carlee Adams both led the Pirates with two hits. Freshman Addison Dolan scored three of the Pirates' six runs. Carlee Adams got the scoring started for the Pirates with a triple in the first inning, scoring Dolan. Carlee Adams then scored on a passed ball. In the third inning, Carlee Adams drove in her second run of the day to score Dolan again. McQueen later scored in the inning on a passed ball. Leading 4-0 in the fifth inning, senior Alexis Condon drove in Dolan on a sacrifice fly. McQueen scored her second run of the day in the fifth to round out the scoring. The Pirates (2-0) are back in action Thursday night on the road at Jac-Cen-Del. First pitch is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
