Jackson sets new stadium records in three-way meet on Senior Night

The Pirates track and field team celebrated Senior Night in their only home meet of the season. Shortly thereafter, the boys team celebrated by winning defeating Connersville and New Castle. The Pirate boys team scored 97 points to both New Castle and Connersville’s 35. On the girls side, New Castle won the meet with 68 points. Connersville scored 57.5. The Pirates finished third with 37.5 points. For the boys, the 4x800 relay team of Zack Blodgett, TJ Gorman, Jake Hawkins, and Cameron Schwartz won by nearly a full minute, In the 1600, Gorman and Joe and Jake Hawkins swept the event. Then the Pirates of Gorman, Joe Hawkins, and Jake Hawkins swept the 1600. Schwartz and Braylon Brancamp earned first and second in the 800m with Jayden Schwagmeier barely missing third by two-tenths of a second. In the 3200, Gorman, Joe Hawkins, and Quinton Walker 1-2-3. Walker set new a PR, going under 11 minutes for the first game. Other standout performances came from Carson Kilgore, who won the 100m and the 200m, and Elliott Weber, who led a sweep in the shotput and discus. Kameron Parkinson and Reed Hungerford finished second and third in the shot put. Parkison and Justin Ramer finished second and third in the discus, Senior Blake Collins won the long jump with a new personal best and Senior Owen Meadows also set a new personal best in the 400m to earn the victory. Meadows teamed up with Blodgett, Kilgore, and Jake Hawkins to comfortably win the 4x400 relay. In the 4x100 relay, four freshman took home the victory. Aidyn Easley, Noah Martini, Jackson Phillips, and Corbin Senoff took home the victory. , On the girls side, senior Emarie Jackson continued her phenomenal Senior season. One week after throwing the sixth-furthest discus throw in state history and smashing Jennings County’s stadium record, she followed that up with breaking the Greensburg stadium record with a throw of 155-7. Teammate Livy Grimes also had a great disc throw to finish second. The pair also went 1-2 in the shot put. Jackson set a new outdoor school record and stadium record with a throw of 49-8. The Pirate track team is back in action Thursday on the road in the South Dearborn Invitational.
