Track and field earns pair of fourth-place finishes at South Dearborn Invite

The Greensburg boys and girls track teams both earned four-place finishes in Thursday night's 13-team South Dearborn Invitational. On the boys side, the Pirates' 78 points followed Batesville's 119 points, Lawrenceburg's 96 points, and Milan's 89.66 points. Notable finishes for Greensburg included Carson Kilgore's fourth in the 100m and a third in the 200m. Owen Meadows came home fifth in the 400m. Cameron Schwartz finished fourth in the 800m. The Pirates 4x400m relay team earned a fourth place finish. Blake Collins finished fourth in the high jump. Collins and Kilgore finished third and fourth respectively in the long jump. Landin Shepherd tied for third in the pole vault. Elliot Weber earned a fourth in the discus. Weber and Reed Hungerford finished second and third in the shot put. On the girls side, the Pirates scored 69,5 points, finishing behind Batesville's 152.5 points, Madison's 83 points, and Lawrenceburg's 73.5 points. Genevieve Smith finished third in the 200m and second in the 400m. The 4x400m relay team finished fourth. Jasmin Bailey earned a third in the pole vault. Emarie Jackson was the lone winner for the Pirates, sweeping the discus and shotput. Livvy Grimes finished second in the discus and third in the shot put. The Pirates have two meets scheduled for this weekend. The Carmel Distance Showcase takes place Friday night. TJ Gorman, Joe Hawkins, and Jake Hawkins will compete. The Pirates also compete in the Talon Relays at Brown County on Saturday.
