Baseball falls to Batesville in extra innings

The Greensburg baseball team plated four runs in the first three innings of Monday's game against Batesville, but could not score again, falling 5-4 in eight innings. Senior Justin Adkins drove in a pair on a sacrifice fly and a fielder's choice. Senior Bryson Kelso also drove in a run on an RBI single. Senior Leland Workman went 3-4 at the plate. Junior Caleb Griewe took the ball to start the game for Greensburg. He allowed two earned runs on nine hits over 5.1 innings. Greiwe walked one and struck out five. Senior Gavin Owens finished the game for the Pirates, throwing two innings while allowing the game-ending unearned run. Owens gave up one hit and struck out three. The Pirates (5-3, 4-2 EIAC) are back in action Tuesday when they host a non-conference matchup with South Ripley at 5 p.m.
