Boys track finishes third, girls sixth at East Central Invitational

The Greensburg boys track and field team finished third out of eight teams at Friday night's East Central Invitational, scoring 90 total points. The girls team finished sixth, scoring 52 total points. On the boys side, Jake Hawkins was a winner in the 1600m, finishing with a time of 4:44.99. Joe Hawkins and TJ Gorman finished 1-2 in the 3200m. Hawkins ran a 10:09.84 while Gorman ran a 10:11.00. The 4x800 relay team of both Hawkins brothers, Gorman, and Zack Blodgett were victorious, defeating Batesville by eight-hundredths of a second. Cameron Schwartz finished third in the 800m with a time of 2:07.36. Blake Collins was second in the long jump with a distance of 20-0.5. Elliot Weber surpassed the 50' threshold once again on shotput, earning the victory with a throw of 50-05.75. Reed Hungerford finished third with a throw of 48-02.5. For the Pirate girls, Emarie Jackson once again swept shot put and discus. Her shot put throw of 47-08 won the event by almost 10 feet. In the discus, Jackson and Livvy Grimes finished 1-2. Jackson threw 154-02, while Grimes threw 125-05. Greensburg's Ava Wilmer was fourth in the pole vault at a height of 8'0". Pirate track and field is back in action Tuesday night. They travel to North Decatur for a dual meet at 5 p.m.
