The Greensburg girls soccer team opened their season with a 6-1 win against visiting Knightstown Saturday afternoon at Shriver Field. Senior Genevieve Smith scored a hat trick, sophomore Kadence Rich added a pair of goals, and sophomore Rachel Lipps added a goal, as well. Assists came from Smith, senior Madisyn Morlan, junior Jaylin Thornton, and senior Marissa Powers. The Pirate defense kept the ball in scoring position for a large portion of the game. Goalkeepers junior Madeline Shrader and sophomore Peyton Powers faced only four Knightstown shots on goal, saving three. The Pirates (1-0) return to the pitch Tuesday at Rising Sun. The match begins at 5 p.m.
