Cross country finishes second in four-way meet

The Greensburg cross-country teams hosted Batesville, North Decatur, and South Decatur in their first home meet of the 2024 season Thursday night. The Lady Pirates placed second out of four schools. They beat North and South Decatur but lost to Batesville. The Bulldogs took the top seven spots and were led by Kaylynn Bedel. Bedel won the race in 21:19.1. Sophomore Alaina Bedel was the top finisher for Greensburg placing eighth overall in 23:01.9. Tori Gauck ran 24:22.0 for 11th overall. Brooke Welsh took 18th in 26:56.7. Alli Duncan crossed the finish line in 29:01.8 for 21st. Allison Kunze was 29th in 31:22.3. The boys' cross-country team also placed second out of four schools last night in their first home meet. They beat North and South Decatur but lost to Batesville. Batesville’s Jake Chapman was the individual winner running 17:22.7. Top ten finishers for the Pirates were Quinton Walker (fourth in 18:58.9), Dante Hess (fifth in 19:03.9), and Chase Tekulve (10th in 19:48.7). Xavier Cassis was 11th in 19:50.4. The Pirates next compete in the Franklin Invitational on Saturday, August 31st. The girls’ race begins at 8:30 a.m. with the boys’ competition at 9:15 a.m.
