Cross country finishes sixth, ninth at Columbus North's Weinheimer Classic

Greensburg competed in the Rick Weinheimer Classic hosted by Columbus North on Saturday morning at Ceraland. The Pirates competed in the A Division against over 20 other schools from around the state. In the girls’ competition, Eastern Greene’s Esther Crane won in 19:24 leading her team to the win. The Lady Pirates finished ninth out of 25 teams. Sophomore Alaina Bedel was Greensburg’s top runner earning a medal for placing 12th in a season-best time of 21:12.4. Tori Gauck took 25th in 22:21.0, her fastest time of 2024. Brooke Welsh broke 24 minutes for the first time ever. She placed 44th in 23:29.1. Alli Duncan continued to improve as she ran 25:31.4 for 90th overall. Senior Allison Kunze had her best time of the season. She finished 104th in 27:20.3. Avonlee Bohall improved her personal best by over 3:00. She was 124th in 31:22.6 Madison won the boys’ meet and had the individual champion. Will Laufer won in 16:23. The Pirates finished sixth out of 17 teams. Sophomore Quinton Walker was the top runner for Greensburg. Walker placed 28th in 17:55.3, his best time of the season. Xavier Cassis broke 19:00 for the first time ever. Cassis finished 45th in 18:32.3. Malakai Nicolaides and Henry Corya finished 50th and 51st, respectively. Both runners were under the 19-minute barrier running 18:45. Senior Chase Tekulve set a new personal record and was 60th in 19:07.1. Other runners for Greensburg included Conner Bedel (19:29.6, personal best), Xavier Wade (19:54.3, personal best), Luke Dwenger (20:11.8, personal best), Brayden Emery (20:30.3, season best), Ethan Clifford (20:49.2, personal best), and Dylan Herpel (27:36.6). The Pirates return to the course Saturday when they travel to Brown County for the Eagle Classic.
