Cross country finishes 13th, 15th at Brown County's Eagle Classic

The Greensburg cross country team traveled to Brown County for the 23rd Eagle Classic Cross-Country Invitational Saturday morning. Jasper’s Andyn Lampert won the AA Race in 19:45.5 leading the Wildcats to the team victory. Greensburg placed 15th out of 17 teams. Sophomore Alaina Bedel was the Lady Pirate’s top runner, placing 29th in 22:00.7. Tori Gauck finished in 38th with a time of 22:26.3. Brooke Welsh took 97th in 24:56.6. Other Greensburg runners included Alli Duncan in 26:48.7, Allison Kunze in 28:54.8, and Avonlee Bohall in 33:41.9. In the boys’ race, Pike’s Matthias Smith was the individual champion in 16:23 while Franklin Community took the team title with only 59 pts. The Pirates finished 13th out of 19 teams. Quinton Walker led Greensburg finishing 43rd in 18:19.6. Junior Dante Hess broke 19:00 for the first time in 2024. Hess placed 54th in a personal best of 18:40.1. Chase Tekulve was Greensburg’s third runner and was 79th overall in 19:17.1. Henry Corya placed 81st in 19:21.2. Xavier Cassis ran 19:28.4 and earned 85th. Other varsity finishers for the Pirates were Conner Bedel (20:21.1) and Malakai Nicolaides (20:27.7). Greensburg had four finishers in the Boys Reserve Race. Senior Brayden Emery was the top finisher for the Pirates. He was 65th in 20:49.5. Luke Dwenger finished in 21:25.5 for 77th place. Ethan Clifford ran 21:51.2 for 84th. Dylan Herpel was 127th in a personal best time of 25:10.8. Greensburg’s next meet will be Tuesday evening when South Decatur hosts the Decatur County meet.
