Smith and Rich score hat tricks in girls soccer's rivalry win at Rushville

The Greensburg girls soccer team retained the soccer ball trophy after exploding for nine goals in Saturday's win against Rushville in the annual Battle of the Ball game. Senior Genevieve Smith scored three goals, earning her seventh hat trick of 2024. Sopohomore Kadence Rich also scored a hat trick, her third this season. Rich added two assists. Seniors Marissa Powers, Ella Koors, and Madisyn Morlan all also found the net. Other assists in the game came from Smith, senior Sierra Coughlin, sophomore Chloe Wentzel, sophomore Izzy Taylor, and junior Maddie Haviland. The Pirates defense only allowed three shots, all saved by junior goalkeeper Madeline Shrader. Greensburg returns to the pitch on Thursday at home against Franklin County. The match begins at 5:30 p.m.
