Girls tennis now 13-0 after conference win over Lawrenceburg

The Greensburg girls tennis team pushed their season record to 13-0 after a 4-1 win against Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference opponent Lawrenceburg on Wednesday night. No. 1 doubles pairings Ella Chapman and Janae Comer won 6-3, 6-4. No. 2 doubles pairings Hailey Duerstock and Josie Nobbe won 6-2, 6-1. In singles action, No. 2 Abigail Hoeing won 6-1, 6-1. At No. 3 singles, Mary Harmon won 6-3, 7-5. No. 1 singles player Jenna Foster lost in three sets, 3-6, 7-5, 3-6. "I was very proud of the girls tonight," head coach June Rigney said. "I was proud of their effort, focus, and character as they competed. They knew this was a big match and they rose to the occasion." The Pirates are ranked No. 6 in the Indiana High School Tennis Coaches Association District 8 poll. The girls tennis team will celebrate Senior Night on Thursday as they look for an undefeated EIAC season against Rushville at 5 p.m.
