Colten Schroeder's 77 was the best round of the day in the 12-team Batesville Invitational at Hillcrest Country Club on Saturday, leading the Greensburg boys golf team to a third place finish. The Pirates carded a team score of 336, including Hunter Springmeyer's 81, Abe Tebbe's 84, and a 94 from Parker Phillips. Mt. Vernon won the event with a team score of 320. Madison finished second with a team score of 324. "I was extremely proud of the way we bounced back after a sluggish performance on Thursday on the same course," head coach Bryce Mize said. "We got off to a really hot start and we used that to put up a great score on the front nine." "Tebbe, Schroeder, and Springmeyer all went out in under 40 and, honestly, their scores could have been even better. We then were able to hold on through most of the treacherous back nine to post a good team score. We did make some mistakes coming down the final two or three holes, but fortunately we had put ourselves in a good position up to that point. With now only one more away match the rest of the year, we'll look forward to getting comfortable at home as we head towards the important part of the season." The Pirates are back on the course Tuesday at Greensburg Country Club in a four-way meet with Franklin County, Lawrenceburg, and Oldenburg Academyat 4:30 p.m.
